“Why cry, if the sun is about to rise”

¡Bom!

“Samba dance can be a close interaction between two dancers or a joyful solo performance. Since the 1920s in Rio de Janeiro’s Morro (hills where favelas are built), black workers, lovers, musicians, dancers, and children—no matter their age, job, or gender—have gathered on simple rooftop platforms to dance and perform samba. With beautiful melodies and lively rhythms, they try to forget the discrimination and economic pressures they face, wanting only to dance samba after samba until dawn.” – IngLan Chang ¡Bom! (Martina and Joy duo ft. Alaor Soares and Wagner Vasconcelos ) is going to give you a wonderful night with Samba music to say goodbye to Summer and embrace the Autumn with the passionate music.

They are one of the very active duos in the scene of this music in the Netherlands, performing at diverse venues including festivals, events, bars, theaters such as Tivoli Vredenburg, PrinsjesNach, etc. In this duo, Martina and Joy play various types of Brazilian music, including Bossa Nova, Samba, MPB, Pagode, Forró, Jazz, and original compositions. With their jazz backgrounds, they add a jazz touch to their interpretations of these genres. What makes this duo stand out is that the feature of this duo – They play multiple instruments. Martina, the singer, is also a classical trained guitar player. Sometimes, she plays the guitar while singing. Martina also plays hand and foot percussions while singing too. In her performance, you will hear the percussions when she starts dancing. Joy Goh, the guitarist, is also a Pandeiro and Cavaquinho player. The Pandeiro is a traditional hand frame drum often used in Brazilian music, producing a loud and resonant sound similar to a light drum set.. Cavaquinho is a small guitar-string instrument of Brazilian origin.
The Fact of being Multiple-instrumentalists, this duo creates a fuller and more complete sound than we normally expected from a duo, it sounds like a Trio / Quartet!
